Award season is in full gear and The Headies 2012 have officially announced the hosts for this year’s award ceremony. Singer Omawumi, and Hip-Hop star MI will be the hosts of the 2012 Headies awards.
Announcing this today, executive producer Ayo Animashaun says the pair has been selected in line with the awards' tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to front an awards ceremony that parades some of the continent's biggest entertainers.

“It's a very important year for us at The Headies, and for the Nigerian music industry in general', Animashaun, who founded the awards in 2006 says.

“And we found in M.I and Omawumi, two great entertainers who are very passionate about the awards, passionate about their work, passionate about the music business and a great source of inspiration to young, up and coming artistes, because of their peculiar stories climbing up”.
From the personalities of the pair, one can only expect this to be a very down to earth, and fun show. In 2010 Omawumi hosted the 2010 NEA Awards in New York, USA. This year will be 7th edition of the awards which originally started off at the HipHop World Awards and the award ceremony will be held on October 20th, 2012 at the Eko Hotel in Lagos.
