Apple May Debut With Mini iPad Next Week

Nigerians who have developed affection for Apple products may soon have an addition in their basket - as the global smart devices maker is set to introduce its latest and long rumoured iPad Mini into the market next week.
Indications emerged mid-week that Apple may reveal its first expansion of the iPad line on October 23 with the Mini gadget.
Although Apple traditionally maintains a simple product lines, the decision to go Mini may not be unconnected with the success other brands like Amazon, Google or even Samsung have had on the smaller tablet form.
However, the rumour is that the new, smaller version of the iPad would provide a lower-price entry point to the iOS tablet market and also increase pressure on Android devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab line.
In fact, it is estimated that Apple may consider price of the new product between the range of US$250 (N38,815) and US$350 (N54,341). This will surely challenge a number of Android devices available at a similar price.
Now that everything is going Mini, including the expected Mac Mini, a 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro to be released soon, Apple could have seen reasons to step down Steve Jobs’ stand that Apple didn’t need to go smaller than the normal iPad size. It was a favourite quote of Jobs' that “a 7-inch tablet would require sandpaper to sand users’ fingers down.”
