Nigeria Faces ‘Cyber Apartheid’


Cyber experts at a two-day world cyber security conference held in Abuja admitted that Nigeria is currently facing ‘cyber apartheid.’
The conference was organized by the Defence Headquarters Abuja (DHQ) in collaboration with New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited between September 18 and 19 with the theme; ‘exploiting cyber and space resources to meet contemporary Security challenges.”
The objective of the conference was to build on the knowledge and awareness of latest developments in cyber crimes and its threats to national security with a view to developing strategies to contain them.
A communiqué issued at the end of the event distributed by John Zinna Tipijah, Marketing Strategist, New Horizons said “there is an increase in cyber-attack.”
Nigeria is currently ranked 59th globally amongst countries with greatest internet security threat.
